The Client

Our client is a well established and profitable producer & distributor of sports-related content. While the company maintains ties with a number of important sports organisations, the primary source of its content is direct production and its own archives - so there is no dependence on [expensive] live rights.

The Role

Overview: To help grow the business by managing and cultivating existing relationships, while developing new business opportunities and creating a cost-effective marketing strategy across the board.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Manage all major clients, in conjunction with CEO, and negotiate hours packages incorporating multi-year deals
  • Oversee the sales team, with responsibility for all sales income and projections
  • Implement business development strategies to drive new revenues across The Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Australasia, with a particular focus on creating digital media opportunities
  • Develop and execute an effective marketing strategy covering all marketing channels including development of the website, printed material, promos, exhibition stands, etc.
  • Development of long-term relationships with decision makers at sports federations, event owners/organisers, production companies, broadcasters, film studios, etc
  • Constantly review and refine ways for the company to operate more cost effectively
  • Forge strategic alliances, joint ventures and/or buy out options with companies that have a good fit with the group.

The role will entail considerable worldwide travel.

Candidate Profile

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Strong negotiation skills, and a demonstrable track record of winning new business and building / managing a sizable sales team in various locations worldwide
  • Excellent contacts in the sports industry including federations, governing bodies, broadcasters, rights-holders, brands, advertisers, sponsors, production houses, etc.
  • Marketing skills and experience
  • A keen interest in television and sport.

You must of course be a natural and inspiring leader with a good creative and innovative mind combined with excellent commercial instincts.

Language skills and relevant qualifications will both be helpful

Package

The package will consist of an attractive and competitive basic salary plus benefits, bonus potential and possible LTIP.

A newly-created and important role at a major UK media group.

The position requires a thorough understanding of On Demand operations & workflow, with a particular focus on the financial aspects.

The COMPANY

Our client is a major, blue-chip UK media group with millions of UK customers. This role is within the company’s fast-expanding On Demand service which includes catch-up programming as well as a variety of other content.

The ROLE

Assisted by two direct reports ( and 42 indirect reports ) , the main aim of the job is to actively manage the £multi-million operating cost model across content ingest, encoding, metadata and publishing.

Through careful management of external service providers and intelligent analysis of data, the aim is to ensure costs are optimised while service complies with KPIs.

The role will entail building effective working relationships with numerous interested parties, keeping abreast of the fast-developing technology (and ensuring it is adopted where appropriate), and constantly watching for better ways to operate.

Candidate PROFILE

To succeed in this role, you must already have a successful record of achievement in the business of providing On Demand services.

With an operational, technical background, or even financial background you must have a thorough understanding of the business combined with astute commercial sense & analytical skills. They may come from a facility company , a broadcaster or a company specialising in digital content delivery.

PACKAGE

The six-figure remuneration package will consist of a competitive basic salary, a car allowance, plus bonus potential.

The COMPANY

Our client is a very successful broadcaster based in the Far East which is already embracing the latest and best in broadcast technology, supported by a huge $multi-billion capital investment.

The company's aim is to deliver an unbeatable, world-class customer proposition incorporating HD / SD / PVR / IPTV / VOD and mobile in a truly converged, state-of-the art broadcast environment.

The Group originates, aggregates and distributes TV programmes in several languages and across various genres on 28 channels, with plans to increase these in the near future.

Already the biggest player in its home markets, there are plans to use the technology platforms to expand into other markets in the region.

The ROLE

The main objectives of the role are to ensure that implementation of the companys current technology roadmap continues on track, and that the completion targets for each phase are achieved.

A substantial team is in place and has already made great progress towards implementing the current vision. So this role is as much about leadership as it is about technology.

Your relationship-building skills will also be critical because maintaining cordial relationships with key suppliers and sub-contractors (as well as colleagues at all levels) will be instrumental in achieving all the objectives.

The role also carries a Group perspective, and the successful candidate will advise other Group companies on technology matters and strategy. There will also be some involvement in assessing technological compatibility and strategy of future acquisitions in the region.

The position is based in a very attractive location in the Far East.

Candidate PROFILE

Our client requires a Senior Engineer at the top of their game; A successful executive with a passion for technology who is also a people-person with an innate ability to inspire others.

You will already be in a very similar, senior executive-level, technology focused role. For example, you might be with a major national or international DTT or DTH broadcaster, or an equipment or service supplier to the industry.

Either way, you must have a thorough technical understanding of an environment with millions of subscribers receiving a state-of-the-art home entertainment package incorporating the latest delivery technology including HD.
